
PROFILE OF HIS MAJESTY DF. NII OKWEI KINKA DOWUONA VI OSU MANTSE & PRESIDENT, OSU TRADITIONAL COUNCIL
His Majesty DF. Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI, Osu Mantse and President of the Osu Traditional Council born as Michael Dowuona-Owoo on the 7th day of November, 1963 at Adabraka, Accra to Nii Dowuona from Dowuona We of Osu Kinkawe and Madam Grace from the Wellington family of Osu Alata. When a typical Ga family names are mentioned, it gives you the origin of their lineage which is not different from the Dowuona Family of Osu Kinkawe.
Names like Nii Noi, Nii Narku and Nii Adumuah examples. When Nii Noi gives birth to five male children, the first is called Nii Nortey, second Nii Nortei, third Nii Okwei, fourth Nii Narh, Nii Narteh and so on. “Agya fre Agya” meaning a father’s name goes back to the son and the son gives it back to the father. Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI is the third born of his father therefore the name Nii Okwei Dowuona-Owoo. For the records Dowuona-Owoo is a compound name.
Nii Kinka started schooling at Datus International School and continued at Swedru Secondary School in the Central Region. He was accordingly recruited by the Social Security Bank now SG SSB Bank after obtaining a Diploma certificate in Computer Studies. He was employed as banker and computer analyst who started mastering in software programming and became a trainers’ trainer for further implementation various branches of the bank. He worked for twenty (20) years before ascending unto the Osu Stool. Nii Kinka Dowuona VI is a commercial farmer with large cocoa plantation in the Asankragwa district of the Western Region of Ghana.

Nii served the Osu Stool in various capacities before ascending onto the throne as the Osu Mantse thereby giving him a fair understanding of the traditional domain in Osu and making him a better candidate from the lineage of the Dowuona We.

3. Secretary to the Dowuona Council of Elders
4. Secretary to the Osu Stool Dzaase
5. Secretary to the Osu Divisional Council
Ten (10) years ago exactly on the 4th day of May 2007, The Owuo We Royal Family and Dowuona We Royal Family agreed and Michael Nii Dowuona-Owoo was nominated, selected and installed by Kingmakers (Dzaase) of the Osu Stool by the stool name Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI as the current occupant of the Osu Mantse stool after all customary rites were performed by the Kingmakers (Dzaase) and the Osu Klottey Wulomo.
For the records and in Osu chieftaincy issues, Nii Nortey Owuo ill’s name was expunged from the register of Chiefs in 2004 before Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI was installed in 2007. There is no dispute between the two Royal Houses, which is Owuo We and Dowuona We Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI is therefore the traditional landlord of the Presidency since the Office of the President resides on Osu Stools Land.
On the 27th day of April, 2012 Osu Stool was restored to Paramountcy Status and as faith may have it and through our ancestral prayers, within a period of five (5) years, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI was gazetted by the National House of Chiefs (Kumasi). This followed a National House of Chiefs Research Committee sitting, restoring Osu Stool to its Paramountcy status. On the 14th day of September 2012, the Ministry of Chieftaincy & Culture in collaboration with the Regional House of Chiefs performed an inaugural ceremony for the establishment of the Osu Traditional Council.
His Majesty DF. Nii Okwei Kinka DowuonaVl was accordingly inducted into the membership of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs in the year 2014 and was nominated to represent the Greater Accra Region at the National House of Chiefs in Kumasi same year. Three years after being a member of the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs, Nii Okwei Kinka Dowuona VI was nominated and currently serve as the President of the Greater Accra Regional of Chiefs for a first term of three years. Automatically Nii presents the Regional House at the National House of Chiefs and sits on various committees as follows:

National Lands Commission Board – Member
An initiative called “Osu Mantse Community Development Initiative” (OMANCODI) that seeks to support the Stool in its socio-economic development plan for the people of Osu. Nii Kinka Dowuona VI working earnestly has distinguished himself creditably by receiving awards such as:
1. Distinguished fellow of Africa in 2012
2. Nanayaa Most Personality Award 2015/2016
3. CIDA Fellow in 2016
He is a graduate from the Cambridge University International and holds a certificate from the African Transformational Leadership Institute USA, with all its privileges.
